How does the process work?

  • You contact us with a specific decision that needs to be made or a problem you are facing. While our background has been a mix of technical and business problems in the green-energy as well as oil and gas industry, we have learned that our process works across industries and we are currently working on studies in retail and entertainment. We embrace the challenge of learning about new industries and finding new solutions to new problems.
  • We identify the decision makers and their objectives and motives. Typically, the decision is not clear cut, otherwise you don’t need us.
  • We shadow the teams involved in supplying information to the decision maker to understand the source of variations in alternatives and why making the decision is not easy.
  • We determine the root causes of the problem and propose solutions that support a decision.
  • We repeat the whole process, working with the concepts of Agile development and Lean in identifying problems. The iterative approach to problem solving keeps engagements short, solutions real and over time builds buy-in within the company.

What is the outcome?

When our probing questions and analysis enables the working team to generate a solution that the client can support, that is an indicator of a seamless engagement. The next best solution is one that is external to the client and requires further work to gain buy-in from stakeholders.

Did that happen before (not get paid)?

Yes, that guarantee is part of our business model. We bring value to our customers or we don’t get paid.

What we are NOT:

  • We are not business consultants in the traditional sense. We are here to identify problems and provide a clear path to a solution.
  • While we don’t try to be all things, we do try to help clients with any problem they present.  If a problem is outside of our field of exercise, we recommend other professional with the appropriate expertise.
  • We are not coaches. If we determine that business coaching is required for a solution to be effective, we can make recommendations to vetted resources who can support the process.

Why did we choose this business model?

The main risk in our business is not being able to find a solution for a client. That can happen for many reasons:  not enough time (the time frame offered is not sufficient to fully understand the problem and propose a solution), a different problem domain than our knowledge can handle (e.g. cure cancer), zero buy-in from stakeholders (e.g. no real desire to find a solution but to confirm internal beliefs) and more. We decided to take on that risk on behalf of our clients. Our objective is to find good solutions for our clients and build lasting relationships.
